1713. A large blue and white 'Fitz-Hugh' armorial charger, Qing dynasty, Jiaqing (1796-1820).
In the center the Robert crest of a striding lamb bearing a banner surrounding him the characteristic four clusters of large flowers and objects of the Fitz-Hugh pattern. Length 50,5 cm.

Provenance
John Roberts of Bonnington was made a director of the East India Company in 1764, eventually rising to Deputy Chairman and then Chairman. The service may have marked his retirement as a director of the Company. Roberts had previously ordered at least two other services.
