According to the distinguished expert on Frits Thaulow, Mr Vidar Poulsson, earlier at Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo, the painting was probably painted in 1894 in Abbéville, France.
He compares it with a smaller painting now owned by the Rogaland Artmuseum, Norway. (It can be seen in the book by Mr Vidar Poulsson: "Frits Thaulow. En internasjonal maler", Oslo 2006, page 70-71).
