A SET OF IMPERIAL RUSSIAN FURNITURE

For sale at Bukowskis Finland december auction.
Silverplated and gilt beech, carved decorations. Frames with laurel ornaments, medallions, rosettes, fluetings and festoons. Legs with foliage. Stuffed seats and backs. Six chairs with backs in shape of medallions. A flower-shaped table with scrolled legs joined by a stretcher. In centre of the stretcher an urn decorated with snakes. Richly decorated with festoons, scrolls, rocailles, rosettes, pearl ornament, flowers and interlacing pattern. Red painted inventory number 172.
Diameter of the table 125 cm. Height 79 cm. A set of four armchairs with medallions, rosettes, fluetings and festoons. Legs with foliage. Stuffed seats and backs. One with label inventory numbers 14/333. A sofa with similar decorations. Red painted inventory number 299. Width of the sofa 160 cm. The set of furniture was reupholstered in 1950s. Minor damages. The set of furniture is designed by architect N. V. Nabokov and made by master N. F. Svirsky in St. Petersburg in 1894. The set of furniture is from the Empress’ silver drawing-room in the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. The Imperial family ordered this set as first furniture for the private apartments in the Winter Palace.
