Abstract Possible - Tensta Konsthall Director Maria Lind curates exhibition for Bukowskis

Bukowskis | Abstract Possible

Maria Lind, Director of Tensta Konsthall and an internationally recognised curator, will be opening Abstract Possible on 27 January.
The exhibition, which involves a unique link between the two institutions, focuses on abstraction, economics and the conditions for artists.

All the exhibited works are for sale.

Abstract Possible explores and problematises three prominent tendencies in contemporary art: formal abstraction, economic abstraction and “withdrawal” (the literal translation of the Latin ab trahere).

Abstract Possible at Bukowskis is one of three exhibitions with the same title: Abstract Possible - The Stockholm Synergies which takes place during the period January-April 2012. The other two are held simultaneously at Tensta Konsthall and Stockholm University.

“This is a fantastically exciting context for us. Maria Lind has a strong international profile, and her exhibitions are always highly topical and relevant. This exhibition focuses poignantly on the friction – for better or for worse – between the commercial and publicly financed aspects of art. An exceedingly rare encounter!”

The exhibition opens on 26 January at 4-7 pm, and the opening is also the press preview. Introduction to the exhibition by Maria Lind. Welcome speech by Michael Storåkers, CEO. A discussion will take place between Maria Lind and Thea Westreich, Art Advisory Services, on the art market and the evaluation of art.

About the exhibition framework:
The artists Goldin+Senneby were asked to develop a framework for the exhibition. They, in turn, commissioned the poet Mara Lee to create an internal policy poem. All the works have been evaluated by the art consultant Thea Westreich, but the overall evaluation forms a work in its own right contained in a sealed box, and only the buyer of this work will have access to her estimate.
Abstract Possible: The Stockholm Synergies also takes place at Tensta Konsthall and Stockholm University (Centre for Fashion Studies).

The exhibition opens to the public on 27 January and ends 12 February, 2012.

Since 2010, Bukowskis has invited cutators to create exhibitions highlighting contemporary art and contemporary research on older art. All works are for sale at fixed prices. Previous curators: Rodrigo Mallea Lira and Bo Nilsson. The next Primary, opening in April, will be curated by Sandra Weil.
