Golden Age for Art Deco
Day 3 of the Spring Modern Sale revealed a great interest in Art Deco and Jugendstil items.
A reddish brown vase with a fish motif by Lalique (1928) sold for SEK 290,000, and a lamp with an estimated opening price of SEK 40.000–60,000 ultimately fetched SEK 98,000.
The silver department, which already showed clear signs of a resurgence at the Classic Sale, now consolidated its new position at the Modern Sale. Sough-after designers and studios, including Wiwen Nilsson and Georg Jensen, had many bidders. The showpiece, a tureen by Anna Petrus and Uno Åhrén, displayed at the Paris Exposition in 1925, fetched SEK 223,000. The jewellery department too had a very good day.
