Swedish Masters Ruled the Day

Bukowskis | Zorn | Larsson | StrindbergToday’s Classic Sale was clearly dominated by Swedish Masters. The climax of the day was the exquisite small watercolour by Anders Zorn painted in Paris in 1892, which sold for SEK 15,260,000. The windswept birch tree painted by Strindberg also sold for way over the estimate.

There were six bids over the SEK one-million mark, putting the number of bids exceeding SEK one million at 27 this year.

Other Highlights
Other major sales included a French 17th century tapestry from Atelier de la Chaise, which sold for SEK 496,000, and the No. 1 copy (of edition of 99) of the deluxe edition by Norstedts of August Strindberg’s The Occult Diary, which sold for SEK 20,000 (estimate SEK 9,999). Proceeds from the sale of the book are donated to Advokater utan gränser.

Record-Breaking Online
Bids Bidders’ behaviour changes with technological progress. The volume of online bidding is increasing constantly. Today marked a new record in online bidding: SEK 5,350,000.
