Swedish record price for diamond ring
The buzz of the day went round the auction room when an unusual diamond ring came under the hammer.
DIAMOND RING. The final price of SEK 2,389,000 makes the ring the most expensive one ever to have been sold in Sweden. The diamond has a so-called cushion cut, it weighs 17.62 cts and is set with two half-moon-cut diamonds, total appr. 2.50 cts.
“Such a wonderful diamond! The cushion cut is reminiscent of old-time diamonds, a bit like the huge rock on the knob of Gustav III’s walking stick. I believe the buyer will love it,” says Johanna Pietsch, jewellery expert at Bukowskis.
Many beautiful and precious pieces sold for high prices in today’s sale, including a spectacular three-row diamond bracelet that passed the one-million mark and sold for SEK 1,348,000.
