Royal audience chair changes owner - sold today for SEK 570 000
Today’s highlight at the Classic sale is an Audience chair once owned by the Swedish Dowager Queen Hedvig Eleonora. The chair was sold for SEK 570 000 (est 300 000 - 350 000) and was once placed at the Royal Drottningholm Castle 1709 and is imprinted the initials HE.
- There is something extremely intriguing with ceremonial furniture once belonged to royalties. The Queen was known to have been a strong personality and she was an educated woman. There’s absolutely an air of history from the age of greatness over this baroque piece of furniture, says Henrik Åberg, Head of furniture and decorative arts at Bukowskis.
The Dowager Queen was married to Karl X Gustav and reigned during two guaradian regencies. Throughout her long life and as a mother and grandmother to two absolute kings, Karl XI and Karl II, she lived through the rise and emerging fall of the age of Greatness in Swedish history.
During the day another two objects were sold for more than SEK 1 Million. A portrait by Alexander Roslin, Mme de Bavière-Grosberg (SEK 1,23 Million) and a tale by the royal carpenter Gottlieb Iwersson (SEK 1,029 Million). Until today, 10 objects have been sold for more than SEK 1 Million during the Classic sale.
Tomorrow’s saly will be dedicated to silver, Jewellery, carpets and rugs.
All the prices include commissioner’s tax.
