The Nylund Family – Design Across Three Generations

This themed auction highlights three generations of the prominent Nylund family: Gunnar Nylund, Anita Nylund, and Felix Nylund, as well as works from their friends and colleagues. Gunnar Nylund was one of Sweden's most influential designers and sculptors, active both in Denmark and Sweden, including at Rörstrand. He became famous for his animal sculptures in chamotte stoneware, as well as for his elegant and lightweight vases with exquisite glazes.

Anita Nylund is best known for her colourful and often playful works, such as the popular "Vår lilla stad" jars, which became a huge success and are now highly sought after by collectors. Her style may seem to stand in stark contrast to her father’s work, but both have left a lasting mark on the art scene. Felix Nylund, also part of this artistic dynasty, may not be as well known to the general public, but was a talented Finnish-Swedish sculptor and painter. He was the father of Gunnar and focused primarily on portrait painting.

In this auction, we get an exclusive insight into the creative world of the Nylund family. Here, we find both unglazed works and items that never reached production, as well as colour samples and other experimental pieces that shed light on their creative processes. The auction also includes some of the classic works we already know and love. Welcome to discover a unique collection of artistic innovation and family tradition.
