Arne Jones III

Bukowskis is pleased to present the auction Arne Jones III, featuring 21 works with provenance from the artist's family. Among the pieces included are a ceramic bowl and a relief created in collaboration with Margit Jones, Arne Jones' wife, who was herself a prominent ceramicist and sculptor.

Arne Jones is regarded as one of the most influential pioneers of modern sculpture. After World War II, he emerged as a leading voice in the cultural shift that defined postwar Sweden. As a member of the artist group 1947 års män (The Men of 1947), he drove the development toward a more public and concrete form of art, where sculpture took a natural place in shared, public spaces.

Jones broke with the traditionally massive form of sculpture, opening up new ideas around space and movement. Through thematic series such as In and Out, Pirouette, Triad, and Yin-Yang, he deepened his exploration of form and balance. This auction includes works from the Triad and Yin-Yang series—iconic examples of Jones' artistic language.
