Unrivaled top numbers at the leading Nordic auction house

Eight lots over 1 million SEK and prestige collections at fantastic prices concludes the first day of Bukowskis Important Spring Sale.
A historical collection of art objects from Säbylund Manor offered a grand opening of the "Important Spring Sale" auction. Highlights include H.H. von Essen's porphyry vase, sold for amazing 882 000 SEK and a pair of decorative console tables, sold for 330 750 SEK. Fabian Wrede’s Prechtspegel, one of the collection's most sought after objects, was bought with donations from Axel Hirsch, of the National Museum in Stockholm for a final price of 428 750 SEK.
- The collection from Säbylund Manor has received great attention and today's auction was a unique opportunity to acquire historical objects with a very exciting provenance. An honourable and exciting mission that I will remember for the rest of my life, says Henrik Åberg, specialist furniture and crafts.
Bukowskis proudly presents two strong sales of significant masterpieces by August Strindberg. The most talked about, "Inferno", an early example of abstract expressionism and one of the artist's most significant works, sold for 18,575,000 SEK. August Strindberg’s, "Packis i stranden", dated 1892, is significantly smaller to size but at least as significant in the artist's production. The beautiful painting was sold for 11,392,500 SEK.
- Two important works of Strindberg at a single auction have not been presented in a very long time. The fact that both sell at high prices suggest that Strindberg still is as relevant as ever," says Carl Barkman, Head Specialist Art.
The interest was great as a selection of Peter Wallenberg's delightful silver collection was presented to a crowded auction hall, which also was reflected in the strong bidding where Swedish baroque and rococo objects were clear favourites - a magnificent coffee pot by Erik Malm was sold for 232 750 SEK.
- It’s been a fantastic opportunity to, at such close range see so much great silver at the same time – comparing details and the different masters signatures. I have seen the same appreciation in our visitors and the collection has opened up for many interesting conversations, says Anna Whetje, Head Specialist Silver and Objects of Vertu.
Exquisite Fabergé objects, with provenance Nobel were the first lots in the auction sold over a million SEK. A gold, enamel and silver jubilee locker by Fedor Afanassiev sold for impressive 1 408 750 SEK and furthermore, a Fabergé gold, enamel and diamond brooch, sold for SEK 1 225 000 SEK.
Additional highlights of today's grand auction included Carl Larsson’s, "Titt-ut” (Peek-a-boo), sold for 5 635 000 SEK and Anders Zorn’s, "Timret går” (Timber) sold for 7 350 000 SEK.
