Intensive bidding and continued strong international demand for Asian works of art and exclusive jewellery summarize day two of the auction Important Spring Sale. A sensational final to the auction season!
– After the second day, Bukowskis’ proudly presents fantastic results within all categories, results that further strengthen Bukowskis’ dominance on the Nordic auction market, says Louise Arén, CEO Bukowskis.
The second day of the auction began with the Asian Department, which offered top-class Asian works of art, carefully selected by Bukowskis' specialists. The auction's absolute top lot, a magnificent blue-and-white dice bowl from the Qing dynasty, with the six characters mark and period of Emperor Yongzheng's (1723-35), reached a final price of 906 500 SEK.
–The high final price shows our strength on the international auction market. Many international bidders and great interest from buyers around the world shows that it is a good time to sell. We are delighted of the excellent trust we have received from our customers and we are already looking forward to the next season, says Cecilia Nordström, Specialist Asian Ceramics & Works of Art, European Ceramics and Glass.
Further highlights from the auction include an adorable tea pot decorated with birds and plants that after an energetic bidding, achieved a final price of 128 625 SEK and a Guanyin figure in painted wood 16th-17th century, sold high over the estimate with an astonishing final price of 153 125 SEK. One of the auction's most delicate objects, a delightful folding fan in Nephrite, Qing dynasty (1644-1912) achieved an outstanding final price of 202 125 SEK, an object that symbolize the auction's unique range of collectibles.
– A happy surprise was the imaginatively composed aquamarine bracelet with sapphires and octagonal diamonds for which after an exciting bidding was sold for a final price of 85.750 SEK. The result indicates that jewellery with a history and in unusual designs creates interest even outside Sweden, says Anita Bolin, Senior specialist jewellery.
