Let us introduce Peter Weiss 'Villa Mia'
The work 'Villa Mia' is largely a fantasy city originating in Lugano. A painting in which Peter Weiss was influenced by Pieter Brueghel and Hieronymus Bosch.
In the mid-1930s, Weiss lived in London and corresponded with the Swiss author Hermann Hesse, who commissioned him to illustrate for him. Weiss later lived with Hesse in Lugano, where Weiss borrowed a studio in exchange for illustrating Hesse's short stories. In his works, Weiss returned to various themes in his painting - lions, deserted places and self-portraits. The dramatic landscapes with the desolate places may symbolize human vulnerability in different situations.
The work will be sold at Modern Art + Design 24 - 25 November Estimate 700,000 - 800,000 SEK
