Great success for design and works of art during the auction's first day.

The main highlight of the auction was a pair of armchairs by Carl Bergsten, designed for Strömsholmens Café at the Industrial Exhibition in Norrköping in 1906. The chairs resulted in a successful sale when they were sold for 380'000 and 429'000 SEK, respectively. Axel Einar Hjorth offered great success when his designs were sold for millions along with international masters such as Paolo Venini, Pablo Picasso and Alessandro Pianon. A necklace in leather, wood and copper by Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe surprised with a final price of 217,000 SEK.

Axel Einar Hjorth continues his triumphant march around the world. The interest never seems to decrease among our international customers. I am also particularly pleased with the result of Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe's jewellery, a forerunner, both as a female silversmith and creator of a new genre of craft jewellery. In her hands, the jewellery becomes enchanted with modernist art, which today's final prices reflect in the best possible way, says Eva Seeman, Responsible specialist in modern design and crafts, Bukowskis.

Further highlights include a magnificent collection of Venini glasses, charming birds by Alessandro Pianon and decorative ceramics by Pablo Picasso with final prices that are internationally comparable.

– The coveted Venini glass hit the ceiling tonight, as did the colourful glass birds that attracted many bidders, says Camilla Behrer, Specialist Design and 20th Century Works of Art.

The carpet department of this anniversary auction included an unusual amount of internationally sought-after carpets from our leading textile artists such as Märta Måås-Fjetterström and Barbro Nilsson.

— It's exciting to see how, through our internationally acclaimed auctions, we can help spread these artists' works around the world. The exhibition at the Royal Palace 2019/2020 has renewed interest in our great textile master Märta Måås-Fjetterström. Many of today's highlights are particularly sought after, with an impressive richness of colour and detail, such as 'Grön Äng' which was sold for SEK 294,000, says Anette Granlund, Responsible specialist for carpets, textiles and Islamic handicrafts.

To the left; Alessandro Pianon; 'Pulcino'. Pablo Picasso; 'Visage'.
