Buddhor, två stycken, kopparlegering. Tibeto-kinesiska, 17/1800-tal.

Reliefer, repousséarbeten. Krönta, fyrarmade, sittande på lotustron med händerna i mudra samt hållandes radband och lotusblomma. Höjd 16 cm.

Spår av förgyllning.

Purchased at Auction 22 May 2014, Lauritz. Den from the Collection of Sophus Black.

SophusBlack(1882-1960) was a Danish telegraphcompany executive and artcollector. On completion of his education he was hired by the Great Northern Telegraph Company and stationed in China where from 1902 to 1931 he worked, amongst otherplaces, in Shanghai, Tientsin and HongKong . He quickly became engrossed in Chinese art and culture. He understood and respected the Chinese mentality, learned the language, lived according to the country’s customs and began acquiring objects for his extensive collection. When the family left China in 1931 they managed to bring the entire collection home to Denmark. He becamea great benefactor, donating many objects, with among others the National Museum of Denmark as recipients.

The background is shaped as a lotus petal and they have presumably made out a series of lotus petals on a trone.
