Övrig information

When Omega introduced the Speedmaster Professional ref. 311.30.42.30.01.004 in 2013, its distinctive red and white chequered minute track immediately set it apart from the traditional Moonwatch. Behind its playful design lies an unusual story that would eventually make it one of the more collectible modern Speedmaster variations.

The watch was originally conceived as a tribute to Tintin, the world-famous comic book character created by Belgian artist Hergé. Its striking red and white pattern was inspired by the iconic rocket featured in the Tintin adventures Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon. However, plans for an official collaboration never materialised, and Omega ultimately released the watch without any direct reference to Tintin.

Retaining its distinctive dial, the model soon became known among collectors as the “Tintin”. Beneath its unusual appearance lies the classic Speedmaster Professional, featuring a 42 mm stainless steel case, Hesalite crystal and the manually wound calibre 1861 chronograph movement.

Although never produced as a numbered limited edition, the model enjoyed a relatively short production run. Its intriguing origins, distinctive appearance and connection to both horological history and popular culture have since established the “Tintin” as a desirable modern collector's Speedmaster.
