18k gold and platinum, 64 brilliant cut diamonds, tot. app. 6 cts. Signed Mauboussin, Paris. Invent. nr. 3798. French control marks. L. 5 cm, w. 4,7 cm.
Mauboussin's history originates as early as 1827 when Mr Rocher opened a small jewellery boutique on rue Grenata in Paris. After a change of hands the growing business was named Mauboussin in 1922. The economic downturn of 1929 forced Mauboussin to close its New York branch while its legacy continued in Paris. The stock in New York was aquired by Trabert & Hoeffer, an American jewellery business, and from then until 1953 all works were signed 'Trabert & Hoeffer Mauboussin' after which they resumed their independent entities once again.
