Åda Estate was bought in 1841 by Johan Peter Isoz (1782-1862). The family Isoz came originally from Hungary to Sweden in the early 18th Century when John David Isoz (1689-1751) came with the Spanish Minister. He later became a member of the Swedish court.
The painting had a companion piece and hung in the staircase of Åda Estate. This painting was sold at auction in the 1980s.

Allart van Everdingen who was born 1621 in Alkmaar and died 1675 in Amsterdam, was a Dutch landscape and marine painter and brother of the artist Cesar van Everdingen.
Allart van Everdingen was a pupil of Roelant Savery in Utrecht and Pieter de Molijn in Haarlem. He became master in Haarlem in 1645. But he was the already well known as a magnificent marine painter and for his splendid landscapes with cliffs, waterfalls and pine forests inspired by the Scandinavian nature. He travelled extensively in the Nordic countries in the 1640’s.
His landscapes might as well be Swedish as Norwegian, but in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum is a large painting from the 1640s depicting the cannon foundry at Julita in Södermanland in Sweden. Everdingen most probably got an invitation from Hendrik and Louis De Geer for his journey to Sweden were he first discovered the Nordic nature.
He won great popularity with the contemporary audience for his often large scale paintings and originality in motif.
Van Everdingen settled in Haarlem in 1645 but moved around 1653 to Amsterdam where he probably lived until his death. He is represented in private collections and in museums in Braunschweig, Dresden, Munich, Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Petersburg, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
