A Dutch faiance tobacco jar, circa 1800.

Marked B:P-6. Painted decoration of a kartousch above the brand name B: Rappe, above barrels of tobacco, all flanked by two men smoking pipes on each side. Height 27 cm.

Brass cover accompanies the piece. Loss of glaze by rim. Chips, wear.

Exhibitions

Several known examples of these kind of jars with tobacco labels are known, often with Rappe, St Domingo, Virigina or Havana labels.
