Uno Vallman tillhörde 47-års män och även Cobragruppen under en tid. Han lämnade dock det renodlade konkreta måleriet och under en tid i Paris lärde han känna Chagall och Miro som influerade honom mycket. Under 60-talet, troligen hans bästa tid, ställde han ut i Paris och kallades då Nordens Picasso av konstrecensenterna där. Detta berodde på hans egenutvecklade stil, en varm kolorit och egensinning teckning, oftast av tuppar och landskap. Den aktuella målningen är ovanligt attraktiv med en varm solnedgång över en fransk hamn.
