The Swedish artists and friends Ulf Wahlberg and John E. Franzén belonged to a generation that was drawn to the new expressions and the lifestyle of post-World War II America. The two traveled together in America in the 1960s and were inspired to portray deserted landscapes, roaring Dragsters and Hot Rods, and abandoned places at the edge of society.
