Anita and Poul Benbergs Collection – Duodji

Poul Benberg was a Danish doctor who moved to Norrland in 1956. Benberg and his wife Anita began collecting Sami handicrafts during his first years in Sweden. They travelled in northern Sweden and became acquainted with several craftsmen, many of which became their friends. Poul Benberg could place orders directly from them and have unique things made for him and his wife. Carl Wennberg in Kiruna was perhaps the essential source when the collection expanded.
