More information

Margaret M. de Lange is a Norwegian photographer born in 1963, who has achieved international recognition through her artistic works. In addition to participating in group exhibitions around the world, her photographs have been presented at prominent venues such as New York, Brussels, Paris, and Fotografiska in Stockholm, where the exhibition "Margaret M. de Lange - Surrounded by No One" took place between December 8, 2012, and March 4, 2013. There, another copy of the auction's work, "Surrounded by No One, #23" was exhibited. In "Surrounded By No One," de Lange explores deeply human themes through spontaneous photographs captured over three years. By portraying friends, family, acquaintances, and strangers without preparation or preconceived ideas, de Lange created a unique collection of images. These go beyond the exterior and reveal deeper emotions about loneliness, where the depicted become an extension of the photographer's own reflections. The works give the viewer a direct insight into life's darker sides and create an intense presence of vulnerability and honesty, which becomes an exploration of the human experience.

With the words below, Margaret M. de Lange describes her photo series "Surrounded by No One".

"These people become my mirrors; my way of showing the parts of myself I try to hide. My insecurity, my dreams, and my longing. My joy and sorrow, my victories and falls. My loneliness."
