More information

The "Japanese Box" reproduces in facsimile six publications by a remarkable and influential group of Japanese photographers and writers whose work was a response to the climate of political unrest in Tokyo around 1968. The publication includes all three issues of "Provoke" magazine issued between 1968 and 1969, the landmark stand alone photobooks "For a Language to Come" by Takuma Nakahira (1970), "Sentimental Journey" by Nobuyoshi Araki (1971), and "A Farewell to Photography" by Daido Moriyama (1972), along with a brief history and overview volume authored by the project's editor, Christoph Schifferli.
