We have spoken to Louise Wrede, Specialist Contemporary Art, who talks about the selection at this spring's Contemporary Art & Design. She also takes the opportunity to list some of her favourite objects among the substantial selection of international contemporary art, prints and sculpture at this spring's auction.
What can we look forward to in this spring's Contemporary Art & Design sale?
– This season we have a great auction with contemporary art, an extensive section of Swedish contemporary art and several fine international artworks. Amongst them we have works by Lena Cronqvist, Donald Baechler, Christo & Jeanne-Claude and Ernst Billgren.

Lena Cronqvist ”Girl with cat”


Lena Cronqvist – I would especially like to highlight a bronze sculpture by Lena Cronqvist, made in an edition of five. The work is typical of Cronqvist and depicts a girl petting a cat. Both the girl and the cat are recurring motifs in Cronqvist's art.

Donald Baechler "Accept the next proposition you hear"


Donald Baechler – We have a collage by Donald Baechler, who unfortunately passed away recently. The collage is signed and dated in 1991, when Baechler was in his thirties and already a well-established artist. Baechler consciously incorporates infantile imagery and creates collages, paintings, and sculptures in his art.

Christo & Jeanne-Claude "The Umbrellas (Project for Japan and Western USA)”

Christo & Jeanne-Claude have constantly been relevant, most recently last autumn with their wrapping of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. This auction's work "The Umbrellas (Project for Japan and Western USA)" is excellent in its genre and well-crafted original work. To finance their magnificent projects, the duo produced artworks that were part of their projects. Today, these artworks are highly appreciated globally.

Ernst Billgren "Wild Boar”

In 2006, the work "Wild Boar" was the model for the acclaimed series for the IKEA Art Event. The famous screen print goes by the name "Premiere". Now we have the original for sale, and it has never been on the market before!
