Muut tiedot

Johan Jonsson (b. in Södertälje in 1977) graduated with a Masters degree from the Royal College of Art in 2006, and has over the years worked within different fields of design for numerous studios and clients internationally, among them Established & Sons.

In the past years, Johan Jonsson has re-established himself in Stockholm, Sweden where he currently works with commercial clients combined with a series of lengthy self-initiated projects, which lies somewhere between art and engineering. Thought-provoking, ironic and concept based the work can take any shape and medium, often finding inspiration in desire, exploitation, strategies and manipulation.

The Luscious consists of a acollection of large scale and singular objects that lie somewhere between our common understanding of beauty and decadence.
Engineered with somewhat inherent functionalities: a pair of shelves, a coffee table/bench and a chandelier.
The focus is on attributes, finishes and aesthetics with the aim to awaken people's desires to a certain degree of superficiality.
These are simply luscious pieces for luscious people.
The shapes of the objects take their reference from randomly generated chaotic fractal attractors which have then been digitally re-created and refined to explore their functional and particular features.
The manufacturing process of these objects has been entirely dedicated to traditional handcrafting in Stockholm, London and Fujian (China) usung digitally manufactured scale models as references.
