Unique watches in gold at this spring’s Important Timepieces

Specialist Simon Naeslund talks about this year’s trends within watches

We have spoken to Simon Naeslund, Specialist Watches, who told us about the selection at this season's Important Timepieces.

– During this spring's edition of Important Timepieces, we see a trend increasingly clear over the past year - wristwatches in gold. We are proud to present 38 wristwatches in the coveted precious metal. For a couple of years now, we have seen a high demand for watches in steel, so-called "steel sports". Now, we see the same upcoming trend for gold sports watches. Several Rolex and Patek Philippe models have closed interest lists or several years of waiting time for their models. Obtaining a Rolex Daytona 116519LN or a Rolex Daytona 116508 with the coveted green dial directly from an authorized dealer has become virtually impossible unless you are a significant customer.

› Rolex, Cosmograph, Daytona, "Green Dial", estimate 700 000 - 1 000 000 SEK, Rolex, Cosmograph, Daytona, estimate 400 000 - 500 000 SEK, Patek Philippe, Nautilus, estimate 2 000 000 - 3 000 000 SEK

From Rolex's iconic flagship model, Day-Date, we have nine different ones where catalogue number 4 stands out with its excellent condition. Day-Date was introduced in 1956 and was the first watch to show the day and date; it has largely remained unchanged for 66 years.

With the high demand and the low supply, we see a continued price increase, far above the stores' list price for wristwatches in gold, in the same way as with the steel models in recent years.
