Arne Ödberg – cubist and concretist

Arne Ödberg (1909-1954) was by profession a clerk at the Swedish Riksbank in Visby, Gotland but he was also an aspiring artist. Arne Ödberg travelled to France 1938-39 and was possibly introduced to ideas of Theo van Doesburg and the Swedish artist Otto G Carlsund who founded the group Art Concret in Paris in 1930. The collection of paintings in this sale display influences from both cubism and the Art Concret movement. The works in the collection were executed around 1954, the same year as Ödberg passed away, only 45 years of age. Some of them are included in the handwritten catalogue “Kollektion 1954”.
