The model "Concrete," designed in 1981. This rare all-iron variant was produced in 1987 in an edition of 15+2 HC copies.
The present chair was Jonas Bohlin's own out of his private collection, which was later exhibited and subsequently auctioned off at the sale Hommage à Jonas Bohlin in Stockholm in 2003, prompted by Bohlin closing his architectural office at Slussen in Stockholm and therefore selling all prototypes and personal editions.
Jonas Bohlin is a Swedish interior architect and designer born in Stockholm. He studied at Konstfack in Stockholm where he also worked as a professor. Bohlin's graduation project garnered great attention: the "Concrete" armchair, crafted from steel and concrete. In the 1980s the chair sparked a debate as to what constitutes as art? Bohlin's designs balance emotion and reason, challenging conventional assumptions.
