Two Armorial dinner plates, Qing dynasty, 18th Century.

One decorated in imari colours with the arms of Pitt of Ewerne Stepleton, Dorset. Diameter 21,3 cm. The other with the arms of Vult von Steiern. Diameter 23 cm.

Chips. Small crazing.

Alkuperä - Provenienssi

The Collection of Esbjörn Kronberg. One with the arms of Vult von Steijern, no 1889. Most likely commissioned by John Julius Vult, knighted Vult von Steijern (1695-1767).
The other thought to be comissioned by Thomas Pitt, Governor of Fort St. George in the East Indies. Known for puchasing a diiamond weighing 127 carats, this stone were later known as the 'Pit Diamond', he sold it to the French Regent.
