A pair of Russian vases, Attibuted to the Imperial glas & porcelain manufactory, St Petersburg, 19th Century.

Of baluster form, the sides of each vase with a pale mauve ground surrounding two white ground reserves of gilt decoration, with ribbon tied bouqets of flowers between, the flared neck with gilt strapwork design with gilt rims. Unmarked. Height 55 cm.

The flower and ornamental painting of the Imperial Porcelain manufactory during the mid-19th Century was of the highest quality. Specialist flower and fruit artists from France such as Pierre Boudet (1800-1883) and Vivant Beaucé (1818-1876), were employed during this period, toghether with native artists such as Feodor and Konstantin Krasovskii.
