Relations between people, animals and natural forces form the constantly pulsating theme of Nathalie Djurberg’s world. The connecting force is desire. The desire to be united, to destroy, dominate or flee. Nathalie Djurberg is one of the most celebrated artists on the international art scene. Her art covers the famous clay animations, neon art and psychedelically patterned sculptural works. In her world the beholder gains entrance to events that many of us try to avoid: ugliness, incomprehensibility and whatever is deeply offensive. What ensures that one can “put up” with her art in spite of all this, is her humoristic approach to her excesses. Nathalie Djurberg is the recipient of the Carnegie Art Award and the Venice Biennale’s Silver Lion. She is represented both at Moderna Museet in Stockholm and at the Guggenheim in New York as well as in numerous major private collections in various parts of the world.
