A bronze box with cover, Late Qing dynasty.

Archaistic shape, the cover with inscription: This vessel was made by Zhaoqing County government following the imperial order, for the Temple of Literature (wenmiao), in January, 12th year of the Tongzhi Reign. Length 32 cm, height 21 cm.

Wear, tarnished, repair.

From the Collection of Henning M Andersson, who lived in China and worked for the Customs in the early 1900. He later moved back to Sweden and came to live in Udevalla.
