Muut tiedot

Herman Lindqvist's painting from Waldemarsudde on Djurgården in Stockholm depicts "udden" (the point) and Ryssviken in winter attire in 1912. In the background, Södermalm can be discerned. It's a beautiful winter day, and the painting is also titled "Glittrande vatten och snö" (Glistening Water and Snow), for indeed, it sparkles.
Herman Lindqvist is primarily known as a chronicler of Stockholm through many of his subtle images of the city and its surroundings, and the painting at the auction is an example of this.
Lindqvist studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm from 1888 to 1894 and at Axel Tallberg's etching course from 1895 to 1896. In the spirit of impressionism, he painted primarily Stockholm and archipelago scenes, as well as landscapes from Skåne and Visby. He participated in numerous major exhibitions throughout Sweden. Lindqvist is represented with three works at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm.
