Erik Kollin (1836-1901) worked for a long time as a chief goldsmith in Fabergé's workshop in St. Petersburg but left the Russian firm in 1889 to work independently. Kollin is considered to be responsible for the first of the fifty eggs that Fabergé created for the imperial family.
