The Art Department presents works by some of the most significant artists of the 20th century. Among the highlights are “Cirkus” by Isaac Grünewald, “Maquette II Jubilee III” by Lynn Chadwick, “Morgon i hamn” (Morning in Harbour) by Carl Kylberg, and “Orientalisches Motiv” by Adamson-Eric. The auction also features several private collections, including A Life Dedicated to Art – A Private Collection of Modern Swedish and International Art, comprising works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Lucio Fontana, Victor Vasarely, Roberto Matta, Andy Warhol, Antoni Tàpies, Jan Voss, Erró, Dado, Bengt Lindström, Joan Miró, and Björn Wessman.
The Print Department includes top works such as “Paloma et sa Poupée sur Fond noir” by Pablo Picasso, “À l’heure de l’observatoire – Les Amoureux” by Man Ray, and “The Stowaway Peers Out at the Speed of Light” by James Rosenquist.
The design department presents furniture, textiles, glass, silver and lighting from some of the most prominent Scandinavian and international designers of the 20th century. Highlights of the department include two iconic café chairs designed by architect Carl Bergsten for the 1906 Exhibition of Art and Industry in Norrköping, a rediscovered table from the Stockholm Exhibition 1930 designed by his brother Harald Bergsten, and a dining room piece from the early 1920s by architect and designer Uno Åhrén. The auction offers a large section of sought-after stained pine furniture by Axel Einar Hjorth and a fine section of lighting fixtures by, among others, Harald Notini, Carl-Axel Acking, Hans-Agne Jakobsson and Hans Bergström. The highlight in the selection of Danish design is Hans J. Wegner's rare and early "Swivel Chair" designed in 1955.
The auction also includes Andres Laszlo Jr.'s collection of art glass with a number of carefully selected works by Orrefors' leading glass artists, created during the 1930s–1950s: Simon Gate, Edward Hald, Edvin Öhrström and Sven Palmqvist, with an emphasis on early and rare examples of Graal, Ariel and Ravenna. The Ceramics Department offers, in addition to a large section of works from Gustavsberg to mark the porcelain factory's 200th anniversary, two unique works by Pablo Picasso, created in the 1950s.
The Carpets and Textiles Department features several works by leading textile artists Märta Måås-Fjetterström and Barbro Nilsson. Highlights include the rare carpet “Ordspråksmattan”, lot 282. This year we also celebrate the 70th anniversary of Barbro Nilsson’s iconic rug “Tånga”.
The Silver Department offers a broad selection of pieces by some of the foremost designers of the 20th century, including Wiwen Nilsson, Erik Fleming, Georg Jensen, and Tapio Wirkkala.The auction also presents an extensive range of jewellery by Sigurd Persson, Inga-Britt “Ibe” Dahlquist, and Claës E. Giertt – influential figures in jewellery design whose distinctive styles have shaped generations.
