Rectangular with concave corners and a hinged lid. On the lid, a framed relief with Cupid in a chariot with three putti surrounded by a pearl border. Dark blue translucent enamel on a guilloché ground. Along the edges, borders in turquoise and gold-coloured enamel. The original red case is included. Height 2.3 cm, width 4.9 cm, length 9 cm. Weight approximately 158 g.

The motif with 'The Triumph of Cupid' in his chariot surrounded by putti has been created in countless versions throughout art history, from the antique wall paintings at Herculaneum where you can find Cupid on a cart, being pulled by two others in Casa dei Cervi or House of the Stags, to Raphael's frieze version were the chariot is pulled by goats or the baroque masterpiece by Hans von Aachen.
