In Bakhtiari society, the khans—tribal leaders and chieftains—expressed their social and economic influence in many ways, most notably through their rugs. The large, sumptuous Khan rugs served as symbols of power, wealth, and prestige, often displayed in reception rooms or during ceremonies to impress guests and assert authority.
