Steve DiBenedetto (born 1958 in the Bronx, New York) is an American artist who lives and works in New York City. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design in 1980.
Since the 1980s, his work has been presented in an extensive number of solo exhibitions in the United States and internationally, including in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and New Orleans. He has exhibited at galleries and institutions such as Derek Eller Gallery, David Nolan Gallery, and Arthur Roger Gallery, and has also held major museum exhibitions, including at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
DiBenedetto has participated in numerous group exhibitions worldwide, where his work is often shown in contexts related to contemporary painting, drawing, and experimental visual languages. He has exhibited at institutions such as The Whitney Museum of American Art, PS1 Contemporary Art Center, and Le Consortium.
His artistic practice primarily focuses on painting and drawing and is characterized by complex pictorial spaces in which figurative and abstract elements merge into dense, often visionary compositions. Throughout his career, he has received several awards, including the Guggenheim Fellowship and the Rosenthal Award, and his work is included in public collections such as The Museum of Modern Art and The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
