"At the same time as these unleashed bacchanals, sensual temptations and unabashed bribery attempts drawn from the hedonistic dream world of antiquity, Peter creates a series of paintings of bourgeois interiors that are closer to his own reality, such as 'The Glow of the Evening Lamp' and 'Gallery Visit'. Here too, it is about women, but women transformed into transparent beings, weightless, floating and almost without bodies, like mirages that can dissolve and disappear in the next moment, concerned about their dignity, vigilant and refined on the verge of self-exposure, in a sense tragically insubstantial. Everything is at rest, the air is still, time has ceased and nothing surprising can happen." (Folke Edwards "Peter Dahl", pp. 126-127.)
