"Composizione di tre pesci"
Signed F. Depero Rovereto. Gouache on coloured paper, 39 x 32.4 cm. A digital certificate issued by Maurizio Scudiero accompanies the work. The work is listed in the Catalogue raisonné with the number FD-636-DIP.
"When Depero opened his Futurist House of Art in
Rovereto in the late spring of 1919, his aim was to
produce a range of artistic handicrafts for the Futurist home and city. Among these were the so-called tapestries of
colored fabrics (which were actually mosaics), for which Depero assembled a team of seamstresses led
by his wife Rosetta. And to illustrate the tapestries and cushions, Depero drew on both his theatrical experience
and various depictions of real and imaginary animals. In this case, it is three tropical fish, with their bodies surrounded by fins connected by membranes. From this study, which was also a test of color, a cushion was then created in the same chromatic tones but with only two fish, starting from the left, so as to form a square composition."
