Medal crowned with a royal crown. The obverse with Oscar II in profile and the inscription "OSCAR II REX SVECIAE ET NORVEGIAE" along with the engraver's name. The reverse with the recipient's name L.B. FALKMAN and the inscription "ILLIS QUORUM MERUERE LABORES." Gold, 23K. Diameter 56 mm, height with the loop 86 mm, weight approx. 146 g. Chain, gold 18K, L approx. 72 cm, weight approx. 58 g. In a velvet-lined case with a gold-embossed pattern on the outside.

Awarded to Ludvig Berckhan Falkman in 1881 or 1882.
Falkman was a land surveyor and ended his career in the land surveying authority as the Director General and head of the Land Surveying Authority from 1849 to 1881.
Lea Ahlborn (1826-1897) engraved the medal. She was admitted to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1849. Through studies in Paris under Armand Toussaint, Jaques-Jean Barre, and her uncle Johan Salmson, she obtained a position as a coin engraver at the Royal Mint in 1855. She engraved dies for all Swedish coins during the latter half of the 19th century, as well as nearly 400 medals.
