In Victorian jewelry, the snake was a powerful symbol of eternal love, rebirth, and protection. Its circular form—often shown biting its own tail—represented infinity and the unbroken bond between partners. The motif became especially popular after Queen Victoria received a serpent engagement ring from Prince Albert in 1839, helping establish the snake as a romantic and meaningful design in 19th-century jewelry.
