Hervé Van der Straeten (b. 1965) began his career as a jewellery designer but is now best known for his bold furniture and lighting, which blend various materials, including hand-forged bronze, applied lacquer, and polished wood. Van der Straeten's designs, inspired by nature, often feature voluminous forms or lattice-like constructions, characterised by a sense of movement and playfulness.
Hervé Van Der Straeten's workshop has been recognised since 2007 as an "Entreprise du Patrimoine vivant," a French label that acknowledges and celebrates its craftsmanship. Several iconic works by the designer have already been acquired by the "Mobilier National," with some located in the Élysée Palace, as well as in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
