Introduced around 1950, reference 2484 represents one of Patek Philippe’s more distinctive interpretations of the classical mid-century dress watch. The cases were made by Wenger, one of Patek Philippe’s most celebrated case makers and also responsible, alongside Vichet, for cases of the legendary reference 2499. Reportedly, only a few hundred examples of reference 2484 were produced from circa 1950 into the early 1960s.
The present watch is particularly attractive in its combination of an 18K rose-gold case and salmon-coloured dial, a configuration often referred to by collectors as “pink-on-pink”. Rose-gold examples of reference 2484 are notably uncommon, with reportedly fewer than 20 examples presently known to the market.
