The Golden Ellipse is one of Patek Philippe’s most distinctive designs and was introduced in 1968, with its harmonious proportions inspired by the Golden Ratio. Reference 3738/100G-012 represents the larger, so-called “Jumbo” version, combining the model’s classic form with a more contemporary interpretation in 18K white gold.
Particularly noteworthy is its grey, or anthracite-coloured, dial. The Golden Ellipse is perhaps best known for its iconic blue dials, particularly when paired with yellow gold, whereas this white gold version with its grey dial offers a considerably more understated and unusual expression.
Beneath the slim case is Patek Philippe’s celebrated caliber 240, an automatic movement equipped with a 22K gold micro-rotor. Caliber 240 is a milestone in Patek Philippe’s modern history and has been in production since 1977. The combination of its unusual colour scheme, Jumbo proportions and exceptionally thin micro-rotor movement makes reference 3738/100G-012 a particularly interesting interpretation of the Golden Ellipse.
