Alkuperä - Provenienssi

Emil Mazetti-Nissen (1861–1929), Ellesøhus, Denmark.

In 1888, the Dane Emil Nissen crossed the water to Sweden to establish his new factory, Malmö Choklad- och Konfektfabriks AB. To prevent himself from being confused with his father, who was also in the confectionery business, the name "Mazetti" was adopted; in Italian, it means ‘small bundle’. Nissen later added Mazetti to his surname.

In the late 1920s, Mazetti-Nissen commissioned the Ellesøhus estate on the coast just north of Copenhagen. The main building was completed in 1930 and designed by the architects Bendixen and Klein, who drew strong inspiration from the classical English country house style. The present table was placed on the large veranda overlooking the lake. Mazetti-Nissen died the year before the estate was completed, and his widow moved in.

Muut tiedot

Designed during the winter of 1921–22 as an entry for a cast-iron competition announced in autumn 1921 by the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design in collaboration with Näfveqvarns bruk.

The competition for which the table was designed was divided into seven categories, with Group G comprising proposals for flower tables. The jury—which included architects Carl Bergsten and Elsa Gullberg, among others—concluded its work on January 14, 1922. In Group G, Hörvik’s entry, “Blomster,” was surpassed by architect Henning Möller’s entry, “Öster”; however, the purchasing committee at Näfveqvarns bruk had the discretion to allocate funds across the various categories and ultimately decided to acquire and put “Blomster” into production, albeit for a limited period.
