The collection belonged to Thor Björn Hansson (1954–2023), a Swedish photographer and cinematographer whose career began in Gothenburg in 1979 and later took him to the American Film Institute in Hollywood. During his time in the United States, Thor developed a deep passion for Gibson guitars, an interest that would shape his collection throughout his life.

After returning to Gothenburg in the 2000s, Thor continued to build and refine his collection, which today includes both classic and rare Gibson models. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his dedication to preserving and adjusting the guitars to achieve the ultimate sound and authentic feel.

Founded in 1902 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Gibson is one of the world’s most iconic guitar brands, renowned for its high-quality instruments that have played a pivotal role in the development of both rock music and pop culture.
