Josef Frank and Friends – Winter Edition

Bukowskis presents one of our most highly regarded themed auctions, featuring many of Svenskt Tenn’s sought-after design classics. Josef Frank was a master at creating a variety of attractive cabinet designs. He aimed for them to stand on legs high enough to reveal the room’s skirting boards, enhancing the sense of space. This auction includes one of his most coveted pieces, the “The Cardboard Cabinet” model 2192, lacquered in red on a mahogany base. Josef Frank also designed many different types of lamps, as he preferred interiors lit by multiple smaller light sources rather than relying on large ceiling fixtures. The auction features a range of floor lamps, ceiling lights, and smaller lamps. There are also examples of Frank’s exquisite upholstered furniture, from the generous Liljevalchs sofa in brown velvet to various armchairs and stools.

Estrid Ericson (1894–1981) began her successful collaboration with Josef Frank (1885–1967) in the 1930s. The first major exhibition of Frank’s objects for Svenskt Tenn was held in 1934 at Liljevalchs Konsthall. Josef Frank went on to create numerous classics that have enriched both private homes and public spaces, and his furniture has become an integral part of Swedish design history. Take the opportunity to explore the auction’s selection of Svenskt Tenn’s popular and timeless design pieces – place your bids today!
