James Bond (also known as Agent 007) is a fictional British spy created in 1953 by Ian Fleming. After Fleming's death in 1964, Bond has continued as a literary creation in the hands of others, including Kingsley Amis and John Gardner.
James Bond works for the British intelligence service MI6 under the name Agent 007. The 00 section (which grants its agents a "license to kill") is overseen by M. The missions Bond undertakes often involve saving the world from supervillains and terrorists. Bond himself is known to be a snob; he often dresses in a tuxedo and drinks either expensive champagne (preferably Dom Pérignon or Bollinger) or vodka martini ("shaken, not stirred"). He is also known for driving around in sports cars with astonishing gadgets provided by MI6's quartermaster Q. He lives as if each day were his last, alternating danger with luxury and beautiful women.
